Construct Carnival 1.0

The "Construct Carnival 1.0" was held at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) on May 30 and 31, 2024, organized by the Department of Building Engineering and Construction Management (BECM). The event brought together students and professionals from various universities to explore innovations in smart construction. It was conducted according to a detailed schedule and live-streamed on Facebook for wider outreach.On the first day, the event began with kit collection at BECM department, followed by a rally organized by the Department of BECM. The formal inauguration ceremony occurred in the auditorium, where dignitaries and organizers delivered inspiring speeches. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Engr. Md. Jahangir Alam addressed the discussion as the chief guest, with BECM Department Head Prof. Rabiul Awal presiding over the event. The discussion also featured special guests such as Director General of Bangladesh Water Development Board Amirul Haque Bhuiyan, Director General of House and Building Research Institute Ashraful Alam, and Director of River Research Institute Pintu Kanungoe. Throughout the day, a series of technical workshops were conducted in the auditorium, covering various aspects of smart construction and featuring experts in the field. These workshops gave participants valuable insights into the latest technologies and practices in the construction industry.During the event, participants had the opportunity to attend parallel sessions, including the Archi Capture and Poster Presentation in the auditorium lobby and the MechaMind and CAD Expert competitions held in Department of BECM. These sessions allowed students to showcase their architecture and engineering design skills and creativity. The sponsors also delivered speeches, sharing their contributions and insights into the construction industry.The second day of the carnival started with the Smart Management Maestro competition, focusing on management skills in the construction sector. This was followed by the formation of the Alumni Association in Department of BECM, where alumni gathered to strengthen their network and support for current students. The day culminated in the closing and prize-giving ceremony in the auditorium, where students from various universities were awarded for their outstanding performances in different events. The event concluded with a vibrant cultural program, showcasing the diverse talents of the participants.Students from numerous universities participated in the event, including RUET, IUT, BAUET, KUET, UAP, DUET, AMUST, BUET, SUST, AUST, Stamford, KU, and PUST. The wide participation demonstrated the event's broad appeal and success in bringing together future construction industry leaders.Construct Carnival 1.0 was a significant success, providing a platform for students, academicians, and industry professionals to discuss advancements and challenges in smart construction. The informative sessions, engaging competitions, and cultural events ensured that participants left with valuable knowledge, new connections, and memorable experiences.
